Our Story.

We understand applying for post-graduate medicine is difficult – we’ve been there. We remember scouring the internet for resources: asking friends-of-friends-of-friends for advice, taking any opportunity to ensure we had the best chance of getting in.

That’s why we created GamsatScience. Developed by a small group of medical and dental students, this is a platform for current medical and dental students to pass on their knowledge to those aspiring to follow in their footsteps.

For those looking to enter medicine or dentistry, here you’ll find medical and dental students who truely excel in the areas they tutor, eager to share their aquired wisdom.

I’m friendly and engaging and have worked with people with an ESL background to those looking to perfect their marks. I work to your needs and can’t wait to chat to you soon! 😊

James Reynolds, 4th Year Medical Student, University of Melbourne

My name is James, and I’m in my final year of medicine at the University of Melbourne. I scored an 84 in Section 3 by approaching it as a problem-solving exercise and focusing on my ability to interpret graphs, recognise patterns and calculate maths equations efficiently rather than rote learning basic sciences. I use this philosophy to teach my students and have thoroughly enjoying seeing my students improve their GAMSAT scores.

In my spare time I love a game of tennis, soccer, chess, or pretty much anything involving some form of competition!

Alvin Joseph, 1st Year Medical Student, University of Sydney

Specialist GAMSAT Section 2 (84), Section 3 (76) Tutor

Hello! My name is Alvin and I will be a first-year medical student at the University of Sydney in 2024. My undergraduate background is in Health Sciences (Therapy Studies) in which I delved deep into the scope and technical knowledge required to be a physiotherapist. I feel very strongly for writing and the humanities in general, which presents a rich battleground for exploring original and innovative ideas as well as creative and analytical capacities limited only by the writer’s skills and imagination. I love listening to students build complex  structures within their ideas from simple foundations and the ‘Eureka’ moment when something clicks and all of a sudden, they have a new understanding of a problematic concept. In my spare time, I am an avid chess player, exerciser and science geek. I look forward to helping many students excel in the GAMSAT.

I understand that each student has their unique strengths and weaknesses, so I tailor my approach to each individual’s needs, making the process rewarding, encouraging and even fun. Yes, it’s possible!

When I’m not working or studying, I’m learning to play squash, learning how to swim, reading on politics or daydreaming about establishing e-commerce businesses. I can’t wait to find out more about you and how I can play a small part in your journey to achieve your goals.

Ryan Clark, Honours Student, University of Melbourne

Specialist GAMSAT Section 2 (83) Tutor

Hi! I’m a postgraduate Health Policy student at La Trobe. I try to pack my days with study and quiet comforts, but I also play a bit of futsal and coach the senior ladies team at my university. When I have distinct breaks from schoolwork, I like to pick up a book or a new language, or else take up a project in my garden. You can probably tell at this point that I’m a bit of a homebody.

I’m fascinated by language and writing, and I think that having a good understanding of essay techniques and grammatical structure can be really powerful when you’re trying to communicate an idea. I hope to be able to help you excel in GAMSAT Section 2!
